Randall's Island is an island located on the East River in New York. It is linked to Ward's Island by a small piece of land, Randall's Island to the north and Ward's Island to the south. Randall's Island is separated from Manhattan to the west by the main branch of the river, from Queens to the east by the Hell Gate and the Bronx by Bronx Kill, a strait that connects the Harlem River to the East River. According to the 2000 United States Census, the total population of the two islands is 1386, spread over a surface area of 2.2 km². The two islands serve as intermediaries in the Triborough Bridge complex that links the borough of Manhattan, Queens and the Bronx. Administratively it is part of Manhattan.
