United Kingdom Antarctic Toponymy Committee

The UK Antarctic Toponymy Committee (or UK-APC) is a committee of the UK Government, part of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, responsible for recommending names for geographical locations in the British Antarctic Territory (BAT) and for the British Overseas Territory of the South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands (SGSSI). Many names are formally approved by BAT and SGSSI commissioners respectively and published in the BAT Geographical Dictionary and SGSSI maintained by the Committee.

The committee may also consider proposals for new names for geographical features in Antarctic areas outside the BAT and SGSSI, which refer to other naming authorities in Antarctica, or decided by the committee if it is an unclaimed Antarctic sector.
