Initiative for Open Authentication


The Initiative for Open Authentication (OATH) is a collaboration of a large number of information security providers aimed at developing an open architecture for achieving enhanced authentication.

The consortium consists of a few dozen members who contribute to the standard. The goal is to further spread the possibilities of enhanced authentication, lowering costs and increasing ease of use. Version 2 of the architecture was presented on September 19, 2007.
