Miguel Ángel García y Aráuz (October 8, 1911 - December 28, 2003) I Bishop of Jalapa, Guatemala (in Latin: Dioecesis Ialapensis in Guatimala).
Monseñor Miguel Ángel was born in Guatemala City on October 8, 1911. He was ordained a priest on January 6, 1939. On September 3, 1944, at age 32, he was ordained titular Bishop of Sophene and Auxiliary of Guatemala , by Archbishop Giuseppe Beltrami, Archbishop of Damascus and Apostolic Nuncio in Guatemala and El Salvador, and by Mariano Rosell y Arellano, Metropolitan Archbishop of Guatemala, and Jorge García Caballeros, Bishop of Quetzaltenango, Los Altos.
On April 11, 1951 he was appointed Bishop of Jalapa, and Apostolic Administrator of Zacapa. He was Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Zacapa until November 30, 1955, and Bishop of the diocese of Jalapa until January 29, 1987.
Founded the Congregation of "Martha and Mary", together with Mother Angela Eugenia Silva Sánchez of Colombian origin, for young women who united contemplation and work, January 6, 1979. For the Christian formation of children founded the Colegio Particular Mixto "Liceo Jalapa, in 1952. And also to the Boy Scouts.
His episcopal motto was: "Spes mea in Deo est" (My hope is in God) He died on December 28, 2003, at the age of 92, and was buried in the Cathedral of Our Lady of Expectation, in the city of Jalapa.wiki
