Virtual Circuit Identifier (VCI) is a 16-bit identifier in the Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) cell header. The VCI, along with the Virtual Path Identifier (VPI) is used to identify the next circuit and destination of the cell through the ATM switches to the destination.
