The Zandkoele near Heetveld
The Zandkoele is a geological monument in the municipality of Steenwijkerland in the Kop van Overijssel. The Zandkoele is located near the village of Heetveld. In the Zandkoele, a map of Scandinavia is explained in wood chips and shells indicating the origin of the straw stones found in the Netherlands. The pebbles are located at the location in Scandinavia where these stones are supposed to originate. There is also a small excavation of keileem. Also see 52° 39′ 51″ NB, 6° 0′ 37″ OL
