The General Vocational Training Council is an advisory body for participation and advice to the government on vocational training. It was created by Law 1/1986, later amended by Law 19/1997.
It has a tripartite composition, involving business organizations, trade union organizations and Public Administrations (General Administration of the State and Autonomous Communities).
Among the competencies of the General Vocational Training Council is to prepare and propose to the Government, which should approve it, the National Vocational Training Program. It should also monitor its execution by evaluating and monitoring the actions that are developed, as well as propose updating when necessary.
