Tide mill Bergen op Zoom

The Tides mill in Bergen op Zoom is a former tidal mill at the Oude Vissershaven in Bergen op Zoom. The mill served as a grain mill and after 1825 as an oil mill. In the mill there were two couples of stones, each of which was driven by a private watercourse until the renovation in 1791-1793. Rye and wheat were ground on the stones.

When the fortifications were removed in the nineteenth century, the mill, whose outer wall was part of the fortifications, was sold to the municipality of Bergen op Zoom in 1889. The complex, now expanded to mill, bakery and flower factory, was stripped of all machines and used as a warehouse for the municipality. In 2002, the former tidal mill was sold to a private, who plans to restore the erratic mill. The façade has been rebuilt in the following years and the mill is provided with a new roof. 51° 29′ 41″ NB, 4° 16′ 34″ OL
