White crosses

The Weiße Kreuze (White Cross) monument has been reminiscent of the Berlin Wall since 1971, next to the Reichstag Palace in Berlin. After German reunification, the monument has to move because of the construction site. The new position will be south of the Reichstag. At the 50th Anniversary of the 1953 riots in East Germany, it was on the edge of the reopened Spree. Wolfgang Thierse gave a speech for the opening.

On the face and behind of the seven crosses are the thirteen names of the dead refugees. A cross is dedicated to unknown victims. edit code
