Mike Baker (1957 - 21 September 2012) was a British journalist known for his work with the BBC.
Educated at Colchester Royal Grammar School in Essex and Emmanuel College, Cambridge, he joined the BBC in 1980. He was a correspondent for the Education Corporation from 1989 to 2007, when he left BBC staff. that he was a policy correspondent for the BBC from 1980 to 1989 and as a correspondent and deputy editor of local BBC news. Baker was a regular columnist for BBC News Online, the EducationGuardian, and the Education Journal. He presented several series of programs on Teachers TV.
Baker died on September 21, 2012, at age 55. He had received a cancer treatment, so he wrote on his blog.
