The Polentagraphs is the German-speaking name for an imaginary border in Switzerland between the Italian-speaking areas of the Cantonese Ticino (German: Ticino) and Graubünden (Grigioni) and the rest of Switzerland, with regard to language and culture . The differences between Italian-Switzerland and German-speaking areas are generally greater than the differences with the French-speaking areas. The Polentagraben is named for the corn dish that is eaten in Ticino (polenta) and the German word for greppel. It is also spoken of the Spaghetti mountain, named after the Italian spaghetti. However, the name Polentagraben is hardly known in Switzerland and is only used by journalists of boulevard blades to emphasize the contradictions between Italian-Switzerland on the one hand and the German, French and Roman-speaking areas on the other.
