Caprine arthritis-encephalitis virus


The caprine arthritis-encephalitis virus is an RNA virus belonging to the family Retroviridae, genus Lentivirus, which affects goats. Once the animal is infected, the virus remains active indefinitely, causing a disease that occurs with arthritis, pneumonia and encephalitis in adult animals and with involvement of the central nervous system in kids, which causes difficulty walking (ataxia ) and partial paralysis (paresis).
