Historia is a Chilean magazine, of annual publication, dedicated to the history of Chile and America.

He is in charge of the History Institute of the Catholic University of Chile and publishes unpublished articles in Spanish, English and Portuguese, reviews of recently published historical books, and a bibliographic file of recent books and articles, mainly on the history of Chile. History

Its first publication was made in 1961, thanks to the initiative of the professor and historian of the Catholic University Jaime Eyzaguirre, who was its first director. Other historians who formed the editorial committee of the magazine in its first stage were Javier González Echeñique, who was its secretary, Julio González Avendaño, Gabriel Guarda, Ricardo Krebs, Carlos Oviedo, Armando de Ramón and Gonzalo Vial.

Initially it used articles from external sources, but linked to the university, but gradually began to publish works derived from the research of the university itself. The first articles were colonial or religious, but then they were changing towards the political and economic. No limit was set on pages to articles, unlike other publications, so that monographs of 100 or 200 pages have appeared, as some of the historian Armando de Ramón.

Recently, the magazine Historia joined the SciELO project (Scientific Electronic Library Online), an international electronic publishing program that makes available to the world the research of this magazine, freely accessible from the internet. Since 2008, the journal has been indexed in the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI Thompson), which brings together the most prestigious academic and research publications.
