Memo (note)

A post-it

A memo is a short note written to remind someone of something (memorize). In many cases, such a letter is written to remind the writer himself.

A memo letter is small in size. A common format is about 8 × 8 cm. Because many memos are so small, small notes are soon called a memo (cow-animal relationship). The best-known memos are the small square yellow letters that are pasted by a glue strip at the back (post-it). Kattebelletje

Memo is a modern word that was taken from English. The "old" word for memo is a cat bell. This word comes from the Italian scartabello or cartabello (booklet or register) and is often used in Flanders.
