Antonio C. Miselem Asfura


Santos Antonio Carlos Miselem Asfura (August 6, 1920 - February 2, 2008). He was a Mexican politician, social activist and politician in his native state, Quintana Roo. Antonio Miselem was one of the first activists who advocated the conversion of the then Federal Territory of Quintana Roo into a state of the federation, along with that of Baja California Sur, arguing that as long as they were not elevated to that condition, were deprived of the rights that had the rest of the citizens of the republic, took on several occasions his request, along with other citizens to the Chamber of Deputies. In 1964 he was independent candidate to Federal Deputy, being not accepted its registry like so; in 1975 participated in the first elections for governor of the already State of Quintana Roo postulated by the Popular Socialist Party, obtained according to the official counts 443 votes in front of the 41,165 of the candidate of the PRI Jesus Martínez Ross.
