Landesgartenschau

A Landesgartenschau (abbreviated LGS or LaGa and translated exhibition of gardening of the federal state) is an exhibition at the level of a federated state in Germany or Austria. The objective of the exhibition is not only to spread gardening and horticulture, but also to raise the quality of life and the ecological climate where it takes place. Therefore, it also serves urban and regional development objectives.

Baden-Wurtemberg

In Baden-Württemberg the first Landesgartenschau took place in 1980 in Ulm. Until 2000 there was a große Landesgartenschau (great gardening exhibition of the federated state) every year. Since 2001, it alternates with the Kleine Landesgartenschau (a small garden exhibition in the federal state) which is also called Grünprojekt (green project). The biggest difference exists in the amount of subsidy granted by the state of Baden-Württemberg. Links
