The General Mercantile Registry of the Republic of Guatemala is the state entity in charge of carrying out the registration, certification, providing legal security to all commercial acts carried out by individuals or legal entities within the country. It is attached to the Ministry of Economy. Its main function is the registration of all national and foreign companies, the respective legal representatives, commercial companies, individual traders and all the modifications that these entities wish to register. This public entity is regulated by the Commercial Code of Guatemala, created and operated as of 1971, when this code comes into force.
