John Mealing (Yeovil, April 5, 1942) is a British pianist and player of similar key instruments.
His name pops up for the first time when he plays the keys in the jazz rockband If. If If dies a dead death, he is turned on by Dave Cousins to replace John Hawken in Strawbs. Without ever becoming a member of the band, he plays from 1975, album Nomadness, until 1978, Deadlines album.
During his stay in Strawbs and afterwards he is turned on by a number of artists and bands as key artist or arranger. He works with Tim Hardin, Mick Ronson, Leo Sayer, Klaus Doldinger with Passport, Decameron, The Walker Brothers, Blow Monkeys, Status Quo and The Style Council.
