Miss Mesoamerica

Miss Mesoamerica is a feminine beauty contest that was created in El Salvador in 1992 by Francisco Cortez, president of the national beauty pageant in that country.

In the first edition of Miss Mesoamerica in 1992, the seven countries that span the Mesoamerican region were invited: Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala and El Salvador.

In 1993, as a result of the great success of Miss Mesoamerica 1992, won by the representative of El Salvador, Maria Elena Ferreiro, the international word was added to the original name of the beauty contest, which became Miss Mesoamerica International. 12 countries were invited including Colombia, Panama, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.
