Sigfrid Karg-Elert


Sigfrid Karg-Elert (Oberndorf, 21 November 1877 - Leipzig, April 9, 1933) was a composer of German music.

He studied at the Conservatory of Leipzig for five years, and became a professor for a time in Magdeburg. He settled in Leipzig to dedicate himself exclusively to composing. His numerous works are almost all instrumental, specifically for organ and piano. He also composed an orchestra suite; Children's games, a symphonic legend, numerous vocal melodies, religious and profane, twelve motets and a Requiem.
