Vice Admiral Luis Enrique Cabrera Aguirre is a Venezuelan military seaman. He was one of the rebel leaders of the November 1992 coup in Venezuela, being one of the few officers of the Venezuelan National Navy raised in arms. With the defeat of the insurrection was put prisoner in the San Carlos Barrack next to his companions of arms rebel, being condemned to 27 years and 6 months of jail with charges by military rebellion. He was released by a dismissal of President Rafael Caldera's case. He is currently a member of the Presidential Staff of President Hugo Chavez. Cabrera Aguirre was the last man arrested at the San Carlos barracks, after his release the barracks was closed and converted into a historic museum.
He is also one of the 5 retired officers who was called back to the activity by President Chávez, thus being one of the 5 most senior active officers in Venezuela.
