Steytelinck

Steytelinck is a former palace in the Antwerp district of Wilrijk. The neoclassical castle, built in 1521/1522, is now partly used as a catering facility, while the former castle gardens are now decorated as a public walking park.

History

In 1928, the municipality bought 10 hectares of land that belonged to the Steyelinck castle area. Probably for design by V. De Bosschere was redesigned the garden and made available to the public in the following year, in 1929. The current park includes a pond and a playground.

In 1967, the castle itself was bought by the municipality of Wilrijk. After extensive restoration work, the building was commissioned in 1975. There is now a restaurant and a hymn museum. Brand

On Saturday, April 27, 2013, a violent fire broke out in the castle, probably due to renovation work. Large parts of the building have become unusable, such as the hymn part. Also see 51° 10′ 14″ NB, 4° 24′ 13″ OL Also see 51° 10′ 14″ NB, 4° 24′ 13″ OL
