In 1875 the doctor Jorge Enrique Garcés Borrero founded the drugstore Garcés that he would attend with his wife Doña Joaquina Borrero de Garcés. In 1899 Doctor Jorge Enrique Garcés died and his son Jorge Garcés Borrero together with his mother assumed the administration of the pharmacy. In 1925, Garces Borrero founded the JGB laboratories (initials of his name) specialized in the preparation of pharmaceutical products.
