Philip Lowe


Philip Lowe (Leeds, 1947) is a European official. He became Director General in 2010 at the European Commission, Directorate-General for Energy. biography

Lowe studied Political Science, Philosophy and Economics at Oxford and obtained a Master of Science at London Business School. After serving as Head of the Cabinet and Director of the European Commission (Regional Development, Agriculture, Transport and Administration), he became Director-General for Development Cooperation in 1997. From 1 September 2002 until 17 February 2010 he was Director-General for Competition. Then he led the Directorate-General for Energy, a divestiture of the former Directorate-General for Energy and Mobility. Source
