Filipić

A philippist in a linguistic context is a fiery discourse, condemnatory, or diatribe, given to condemning a particular political actor. The term originates with Demóstenes who made several attacks against Filipo II of Macedonia. The philippics are then in the historical context, four documents written between 351-50 BC. C. and 340 a. Directed against the growing power of the Macedonian, whom it sees like a threat, not only for Athens, but for all the Greek state cities.

Marco Tulio Cicero, very admiring of Demosthenes, also titled as the Philípicas a series of speeches pronounced against Marco Antonio in the time of the second triumvirate.
