A lightbox is a rectangular box with at least one transparent side, in which one or more lamps are located. The transparent surface is usually milk white, so that the light of the lamps is evenly distributed. This can be milk glass, polycarbonate, plexiglas or other solid plastic. Due to the good color display and the low heat output (and low energy consumption), fluorescent lamps or CCFL lamps are often used for the lamps. A lightbox is usually provided with a simple switch to turn the lamp (s) on or off. There are light boxes that can be transported as a suitcase.
