Capacitatism is a form of discrimination or social prejudice against people with functional diversity. It may also be known as disability discrimination, capacity-centeredness, physicalism or oppression of disability.

Definition

The view of the capacitating society is that "trained" people are the norm in society and people with disabilities or with functional diversity must adapt to the norm or be excluded from the social capacitator system. Capacitators argue that disability is an "error" and not a further consequence of human diversity such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or gender. Examples

Capacitatism is manifested, for example, in the configuration of the urban space, especially in public buildings and means of transport, which are not adapted to the mobility of people with functional diversity.

Another example of capabil- ity is the underestimation of the skills a person can develop with some kind of functional diversity, which can be a humiliation for them. Especially when it comes to a type of disability considered as "invisible" (in the case of autism spectrum disorders).
