Manel Puigbó Rocafort


Manel Puigbó Rocafort, born in Tarrasa on August 31, 1931, is a professor, sportsman and computer researcher, known for being a Kentelec 8 designer.

From the 70s Manel Puigbó designed a series of electronic equipment focused mainly on the teaching of electronics and computer science. Highlights Kentelec 8, the first commercial computer based on microprocessor designed in Spain. He also designed several digital and analog calculators, an automatic exam corrector and various equipment focused on the study and analysis of circuits.

He has translated several technical books and manuals and has been a teacher at the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineers of Barcelona and at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. He currently teaches music computing classes.

As an athlete, he was a three-time World Roller Hockey Champion, won several European Cups and championships in Spain and Catalonia. He also won a championship of ice hockey in Spain and has been coach of F.C.Barcelona.
