Tigris (constellation)

Tigris or Fluvius Tigris is an ancient constellation created in the seventeenth century whose origin is attributed to Jakob Bartsch or Petrus Plancius. It represents the Tigris River, and extended from Ofiuco between the constellations of Aquila, Hercules, Cygnus, Sagitta and Equuleus, to finalize near Pegaso. The brightest stars in this constellation were 72 Ophiuchi (of apparent magnitude +3.71), 109 Herculis and 1 Pegasi. Rarely mentioned, it never enjoyed great acceptance and was soon forgotten.
