In the universe of Babylon 5, Z'Ha'Dum is the planet of one of the oldest peoples that inhabit our galaxy, the Shadows. This planet is in limbo in the Ha'Dum system and any ship that ventures into it never comes back. The surface of this planet is only desolation, the successive wars which opposed the Shadows to other peoples, completely devastated it. Its inhabitants then decide to live in the depths by building gigantic underground cities. At the end of 2260, the capital of Z'Ha'Dum was destroyed by Captain John Sheridan. Invited by the Shadows, he turns against them by exploding his ship inside which he had placed nuclear bombs. In order for Shadow's ultra-advanced technology not to fall into other hands, Z'Ha'Dum is finally completely destroyed by a system of self-destruction, in 2261, when the Shadows and then the Drakhs abandon it to the end of the War of Shadows.
