Brega

For other uses of this term, see Port of Marsa Brega.

Brega is a popular Brazilian musical genre. The term, originally considered pejorative and discriminatory, was being incorporated and assumed, gradually losing this meaning over time.

Historically, the greatest singers of the legitimate gender struggle are in the Brazilian Northeast, being the Pernambucano Reginaldo Rossi and the Cearense Falcão two of their biggest representatives at present; the latter follows a line of humorous tack.

Eventually, the struggle is still confused with other rhythms that have in common with him the characteristic of excessive romanticism, such as the payment, which, however, does not preserve the characteristics of authentic struggle.
