Bob Avakian


Bob Avakian (Washington, D.C., March 7, 1943) is the president of the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA, the largest Maoist group in the United States.

biography

Avakian was born as a grandchild of immigrant growers from Armenia in Washington D.C., and grew up in Berkeley, California. He lived at Berkeley Gymnasium and the University of California - Berkeley, at. He was politicized in the Free Speech Movement (or FSM) Movement. Avakian was first a leader of the Revolutionary Union. In 1975, Avakian founded the Revolutionary Communist Party with among others C. Clark Kissinger and Carl Dix, and became president of the movement. He is an important Maoist theorist, and in his opinion, his New Synthesis goes beyond even the best of the previous Communist leaders. Bibliography
