Christopher Bouwman


Christopher Bouwman (The Hague, February 22, 1981) is a Dutch hoboist. He is a soloist in chamber music (including the Schulhoff Trio) and as an orchestra member. He plays a Lorée-hobo; type Royal.

Christopher Bouwman grew up in The Hague. From his 12th year he studied at the Royal Conservatory at Han De Vries and Pauline Austria, and studied cum laude in 2006. At the same time, he studied at the Conservatory of Geneva in Switzerland with the Hoboist Maurice Bourgue. In 2009 he won the second prize of the Fernand Gillet hoboconcours. During his studies, he also fell in the prize. He received, for example, 1st prizes at the Princess Christina Concours and the Foundation Young Music Talent Netherlands. The EMCY awarded Bouwman the European Music Prize for Youth 2003.

As a soloist he has merged with various orchestras, including the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Bruckner Orchester Linz, led by Dennis Russell Davies, and also among various conductors like Lorin Maazel and Zubin Mehta.

In 2006 Bouwman enters solo-hoboist to the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana, belonging to the opera house Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, designed by Santiago Calatrava; the opera of valencia.

With pianist Cathelijne Noorland he made a CD for the National Instrument Fund. Externe link
