Popular Costa Rican Front


The Costa Rican Popular Front was a Maoist political party in Costa Rica. Founded in the seventies by the academic Rodolfo Cerdas Cruz who separated from Vanguardia Popular (Marxist) after giving in Costa Rica the common division between Marxist-Leninists and Maoists that affected the left around the world at that time. It came only to the presidential elections of 1978 separated from other movements of left like United Town (coalition of Vanguardia Popular and Partido Socialista Costa Rican) of communist ideology and the Partido Socialista Organization of the Workers (POST) of trotskista ideology but, unlike these , without presenting a presidential candidate.However, he obtained a deputy in the Legislative Assembly.Punta Unido would get three and the POST none. For the presidential elections of 1982 the Popular Front and the POST join United Town and the coalition together obtains four deputies.
