Ashtown Castle

Ashtown Castle.

Ashtown Castle is a fortified house in the Phoenix Park in Dublin, Ireland. It was hidden between the walls of a more recent construction and greater that was used papal nuncio until 1978. At that time, the most modern construction was structurally irreparable due to the putrefaction and when demolishing it, the castle was discovered. Now it has been restored and is part of the Fénix Park Visitor Center. It is believed to date back to 1430 when it was built with dimensions commensurate with the government policy of the time when 10 pounds was offered to those who built their own security. Later it was incorporated in the construction of the cottage of Ashtown that was destined to serve the official residents under the secretariat of 1782.
