Dieter Aschenborn (November 15, 1915-Windhoek, September 2002) was a Namibian-South African animal painter, son of animal painter Hans Aschenborn and father of animal painter Uli Aschenborn. Biography

At the age of six, he and his family from Namibia (then South West Africa) moved to Stellenbosch in South Africa and shortly thereafter in Kiel, Germany. He later returned to South Africa to work on a farm. He was captured in World War II and at the end of the conflict he became guardian of Etosha National Park until 1952. There he developed his artistic qualities as a faunistic painter and later moved to Windhoek where he could live his art: various types of paintings, reliefs of wood and animal sculptures. and
