Ida Oyens


Ida Pierson-Oyens (1808-1860)

Ida Oyens (Amsterdam, January 9, 1808 - Utrecht, December 26, 1860) was a Dutch writer.

Ida Oyens was a member of the family Oijens. She was a daughter of banker Hendrik Oyens and Petronella Adriana de Marez of Zuylen, married in 1829 with the merchant and commissioner in securities Jan Louis Gregory Pierson, member of the Pierson family. The couple joined the Réveil and visited meetings of Isaac Costa and Nicolaas Beets. Their home became an important meeting place for ghosts. Ida Oyens developed into a writer of especially solid books.

Ida Oyens and Jan Lodewijk Gregory Pierson were the parents of politician Nicolaas Pierson and the pastors Allard and Hendrik Pierson.

Ida Oyens died at the age of 53 after a long-term sick bed, where she was taken care of. Bibliography
