Mar-biti-apla-usur

Mar-biti-apla-usur is a king of Babylon who ruled around 985-980 BC. According to a Babylonian dynastic chronicle, he is the only representative of an "Elamite dynasty", which would mean that he is from Elam even if his name is in Akkadian and therefore Babylonian. Nothing more is known of him, except four heads of arrows inscribed in his name and the title of "King of the Universe" which seems ambitious at a time when no political power can stabilize Babylonia or even neighboring areas. The fact that these objects are in an Iranian collection could reinforce the king's connection with this region, but it is difficult to draw conclusions going further. Bibliography edit code
