The Sidericica Era, or simply Sidericico, is the third period of Mars geological time according to the alternative time scale.
This era is named after the Greek word for ferric iron. It covers from 3500 million years to the present. With the end of volcanism and the absence of liquid water, the most notable geological process has been the oxidation of iron-rich rocks by atmospheric peroxide, giving rise to the red iron oxide that gives the planet its known color. The equivalent on Earth would be the majority of the Archaic era, all Proterozoic and until today.
