Tyler McGill


Tyler Tennant McGill (born August 18, 1987) is an American swimmer, specializing in butterfly style. He was part of two relay teams, being a bronze medal in the 100m butterfly in the 2011 Shanghai World Championships. At the Olympic Trials in the United States in 2012 he was second in the 100m Mariposa, behind Michael Phelps, both being classified to represent the United States at the 2012 London Olympics. He was a member of the 2012 US Olympic team that competed in the 100-meter butterfly event at the 2012 London Olympics, where he made it to the final and did 51:88, placing himself seventh in this event. McGill attended Auburn University, and competed in swimming for Auburn Tigers and the diving team under coach Brett Hawke, from 2007 to 2010. During his four-year swim in college, he won championships for the NCAA in the 400-yard freestyle and in the combined relay 4x100 yards, plus an SEC championship in the 800-yard freestyle.
