Chronicle of Galicia and Volhynia


The Chronicle of Galitzia and Volynia (in Ukrainian, Галицько-Волинський літопис) is a historical record comprising the stage of 1201-1292 in the history of the Principality of Galicia-Volynia (Ukraine) .The original chronicle did not survive; the oldest known copy is the Codex of Hipacio. The compiler of the chronicle tried to justify the claim of Galicia on the Principality of Kiev The first part of the chronicle (Chronicle of Daniel of Galicia) was written in Chełm and possibly by a boyar, Dionisiy Pávlovich.

The chronicle was published in English, with index and annotations, by George A. Perfecky. Later, Daniel Clarke Waugh published a revision of this edition.
