Jesús María Guajardo Martínez

Jesús M. Guajardo (Monterrey, 1880 - there, 1920) was a Mexican military. Guajardo is famous for the orchestration of the murder of Emiliano Zapata in 1919.

Guajardo was born in the state of Nuevo León. He joined the Mexican Revolution on the side of Pablo González against the dictator Victoriano Huerta in 1913. After Huerta was expelled in 1914 and a tear of revolutionary leadership, Guajardo González remained faithful and fought as a colonel in the state of Morelos against the rebels of Emiliano Zapata. Guajardo was unpopular, his troops plundered and raped on a large scale, for which González criticized him. Zapata hoped to make use of the threatening battle between Guajardo and González and sought rapprochement to Guajardo. Guajardo decided to make use of the opportunity and put a plan on Zapata to kill. He announced that he wanted to negotiate with Zapata in Chinameca's hacienda on April 10, 1919. However, at the entrance Zapata was welcomed with a bullet and died.

Guajardo supported the plan of Agua Prieta of Adolfo de la Huerta in 1920 against President Venustiano Carranza. However, after De la Huerta drew peace with Zapata's successor Gildardo Magaña, Guajardo realized that he could be prosecuted once again and joined a revolt against De la Huerta. However, this failed. Guajardo was detained in a military court convicted of murder and misery.
