Zanthoxylum heterophyllum, commonly known as pepperwood or black catafaille wood, is a tree species of the family Rutaceae and the genus Zanthoxylum that is endemic to Mauritius and Reunion. It is so called because of its fruits that look like peppercorns. It grows in moist or semi-dry forests of low and medium altitude.
