Shrek (fictional character)


Shrek is a character created by the American writer, William Steig and adapted by Dreamworks Animation. He is the main character of the book and the film of the same name. Shrek is the voice of Mike Myers, although it was planned to be the voice of Chris Farley before its death in 1997, and interpreted by Brian d'Arcy James in the musical. On May 21, 2010, Shrek received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles. In June 2010, Entertainment Weekly named him one of the 100 best characters of the last 20 years. Shrek is a large green ogre living in a swamp. There he lives happily, frightening the humans who venture or get lost, until one day he discovers that the place has been invaded by characters of fairy tales that have been expelled from the region by the villain Lord Farquaad. After talking to him, he agrees to try to rescue Princess Fiona, in exchange for Farquaad to take out all the fairy-tale characters from the swamp.
