West Angeles Church of God in Christ.

West Angeles Church of God in Christ (Church of God in Christ West of Los Angeles). is a Pentecostal church. Its main meeting place and worship center is West Angeles Cathedral, which is located in the historic West Adams district of Los Angeles, California.

The Church was founded by the elder Clarence E.Church in 1943. The first sanctuary was located on Adams Avenue, near Interstate 10, locally known as the Santa Monica Freeway. In 1969, after the death of Elder Church, Charles E. Blake, the son of a pastor and a native of Little Rock, Arkansas, took over as pastor of West Angeles and served as its leader. Under the leadership of Pastor Blake, the church grew from 40 members to more than 24,000.

The sanctuary has moved twice, the first time it moved, the new facility had 1,000 seats, today these facilities are called North Campus, they are located at 3045 Crenshaw Avenue, and the current facilities, have about 5,000 seats, are located in the West Angels Cathedral at 3600 Crenshaw Avenue. The cathedral, built with steel, granite and tinted glass, was dedicated in 1999.

The congregation is known by its pastor, and by its famous members, among which we can mention: Magic Johnson, Natalie Cole, Denzel Washington, Stevie Wonder, Michelle Shocked, and Angela Bassett.
