Gary Bettenhausen (Tinley Park, Illinois, November 18, 1941 - Monrovia, March 16, 2014), was an American car driver. He was the son of Tony Bettenhausen and the older brother of Tony Bettenhausen Jr. Career

Bettenhausen ran 188 races from the USAC and Champ Car championships between 1966 and 1996, including 21 participations at Indianapolis 500. He won six races in his career, the first victory came in 1968 when he won at the Phoenix International Raceway. His last two wins he made in 1982 and 1983, each time at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds Racetrack in Du Quoin, a race organized by the USAC and not counting for the Champ Car championship. He scored three top 5 places during his participation in the Indy 500. In 1973 he became fifth in a McLaren and achieved the same result in 1987, this time in a March. His best result was third in 1980 in a "Wildcat". In his career, he rode eight races from the NASCAR Sprint Cup.
