Emil Clemens Schröner

Emil Ferdinand Clemens Schröner (Rehestädt (Thüringen) May 23, 1871 - Groningen, April 3, 1950) was a German musician.

Schröner initially practiced painting and began seriously with his violin study at the age of sixteen. When he manifested himself as a ravioliist after two years with the nomination of Spohr's second violin concert, he decided to continue his studies. He enlisted at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin, where Joseph Joachim became his teacher. After finishing his studies, he became the concert master of the Philharmonic Orchestral Greiz. After that he received a nomination as a teacher at the conservatory in Dresden. Hence he went to Kiev, where he remained for three years as the first violinist of the then royal Tsjetvertynski string quartet. From Kiev he ventured to Groningen.

He was a concertmaster of the Groninger Orchestra Association (GOV), founded in 1862, and was a precursor of the Northern Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition, he was director of the Groningen music school from 1910 to 1945.

After the end of his concert mastery, Clemens Schröner went to give room-room concerts with some students. They mostly played baroque music. In 1938 the first concert took place in Huize Maas. After 1980, the Groningen Chamber Orchestra Clemens Schröner originated.
