Carlos Jordán de Urriés

Carlos Jordan de Urriès and Perez Salanova, born Huesca, Spain, and died on October 8, 1420 in Rome, was a Spanish cardinal, created by the antipope of Aviñon Benedict XIII. Biography

Carlos Jordan de Urriès and Perez Salanova was created cardinal in the consistory of the 22 of September of 1408 by the antipope Benedict XIII. In 1409 Urries wrote a treatise to defend Benedict XIII against the cardinals of the Council of Pisa. The antipapa named him sacristan of the cathedral of Huesca. Cardinal Urries remained faithful to Benedict against the wishes of King Alfonso V of Aragon, but in 1417, together with two other cardinals, Pedro de Fonseca and Alonso de Carrillo, asked Benedict XIII to abdicate to end the schism. Pope Luna deposes all three. Urries did not participate in the Conclave of 1417, which chose Martin V, but the new pope rehabilitated them in their dignities in 1418.
