The Mc Burney Point (M) is a point on the outer third of the line connecting the right anterior-superior iliac spine to the umbilicus.
It has several clinical implications:
Mc Burney's point gets its name from surgeon Charles Mc Burney (1845-1913).
In The Knick series, the Mc Burney point is called the Thackery point, named after the fictional surgeon in the series who would have found this point.
