School Danrin

The Danrin School is a school of Haikai poetry founded in the 17th century by the poet Nishiyama Sōin. Literally, the name means "Forest talkative". It aimed to move away from the "bookish" gravity common in Japanese poetry of the time and to get more in touch with the common people and thus infuse a greater spirit of freedom in the poems of his supporters. The Danrin School promotes the use of the simple language, on everyday subjects and with humor. Its members seek in the daily life of the people of the sources of playfulness but they are often accused of only finishing with simple frivolities. Renowned poet Matsuo Bashō is a part of Danrin School before moving away from it later. Notes and edit the code
